Terms of Service
Version 2026-09-28-draft
These Terms of Service govern your use of Matchmaking, operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("Matchmaking", "we", "us"). By creating an account, registering for an event or paying for a registration, you agree to them. If you register or pay for someone else, including a minor in your care, you accept these Terms on their behalf.
1. What Matchmaking is
Matchmaking is software that helps organizations run martial arts and combat sports events: registration, divisions, brackets, schedules and results. Each event is organized by the organization named on its page (the "Organizer"), which is responsible for the event itself: its rules, divisions, safety, officiating, results, prices and refunds. Matchmaking does not organize events and is not a party to the agreement between you and an Organizer to take part in one.
2. Accounts
- Give accurate information and keep it current, including athlete details used for division placement.
- Keep your login secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to register or pay for anyone. Minors take part through a parent or legal guardian, who manages their profile and accepts these Terms for them. [Age and parental-consent terms to be reviewed by counsel.]
3. Registrations and payments
- Prices are set by the Organizer and shown before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe on behalf of the Organizer, who is the seller. The Organizer's name appears on your card statement. We never see or store your full card number; see the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Some events add a service fee, shown as its own line before you pay. The service fee is Matchmaking's fee and is non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
- A registration is confirmed only when payment succeeds. Adding divisions to a paid registration charges the difference in price.
4. Refunds, cancellations and disputes
Each event's refund policy is set by its Organizer, shown on the event page and at checkout, and accepted by you before you pay. Refund requests go to the Organizer, who issues refunds from its own account. If an event is cancelled, the Organizer is responsible for refunds under its policy and the law. Please contact the Organizer before disputing a charge with your bank. Our Refund & Dispute Policy explains how this works.
5. Taking part in events
Combat sports carry a risk of injury. Organizers may require waivers, medical information or proof of eligibility, and may refuse or remove participants under their rules. Results, brackets and participant information may be shown publicly according to each event's settings and your privacy settings.
6. Acceptable use
- No false registrations, impersonation, or registering people without their (or their guardian's) permission.
- No fraud, payment abuse or attempts to avoid fees.
- No scraping, disrupting the service, or accessing data you are not allowed to see.
- No unlawful, harassing or infringing content.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you upload (such as profile photos). You give us a license to host and display it as needed to run the service, including on event, bracket and results pages.
8. Disclaimers and liability
Matchmaking is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the conduct of Organizers, other users or participants, or for events themselves. [Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability to be completed by counsel.]
9. Suspension and changes
We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. We may update these Terms and will give notice of material changes before they take effect; continuing to use Matchmaking after that means you accept them.
10. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE]. Questions: [LEGAL CONTACT EMAIL], [BUSINESS ADDRESS]. See also our Privacy Policy and, for organizations accepting payments, the Organizer Agreement.
